The sounds are kind of low quality, harsh, the enviroments you're supposed to light up start pitch black so you're groping around trying to start your fire and even then sometimes they stay pitch black and you just have this low quality mask+effects=flame in the middle of your screen. I absolutely love their other 'game' Viridi and was really excited for Fire Place, but it deffinately needs some more polish before I could reccomend it.. Puts wads and generic rotating brown things into the darkness. Throws in a million matches. I hear fire, I see glowing logs, but want flame. Where is my FLAME?! Adjusting settings, change locations....nope. Poke poke poke. Glowing chocolate bar just rolled out of the fireplace into the living room. Repeat.Update: Thanks Ice Water Games -- I applyed the fix. I went into the game foder, right clicked Fire Place.exe, went to properties and chose the checkbox "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Not sure why this worked, but it did. I will show juicy before/after pics of the difference when the update is up.- Fix player clipsAlthough I fixed 90% of the exploitable locations that would allow you to escape the map a member of the community was kind enough to show me I missed a few spots here and there so I'm gonna fix that.- Occlusion issuesThere are objects that disappear when you look at them from certain angles, I'll fix that too.- Official names for the mapsI think it's about time I add actual names for the maps, so people can recognize and address them more easily.FOR v1.5- New mapsMany of the original maps remain, and they need to go and be replaced with something new, something better, no matter how much I want to beautify them they just don't work for survival mode, I will replace at least two maps, how many more will I be able to change will depend on my schedule.- Demo Campaign LevelAs previously mentioned, I will release a little demo level, it's not related to the actual campaign, it's mostly to test some mechanics I'm working on and to give you a little taste of what you can expect from the actual campaign.
